Dawn/Dusk shots are important. But what gets me excited is a sort of 'henge' moment, a moment when a shadow reveals more about a place, that cannot be shown without it. This involves timing, the right timing.
The shadows above reveal the main feature of its facade. At any other time it could not be appreciated. Half an hour earlier or later... lost opportunity.
In the images below the shadows show the woodwork stand off the wall of the building behind.
The following again shows that there was no other time to shoot this. Finally a shot where I saw where I wanted the shadow of a tree on the wall. With a Sun Tracker it predicted that it would be there in 2 hours time. I set my alarm and carried on shooting elsewhere.
My alarm went off so I returned and sure enough what I visualised occurred. However I did not predict the shadow intersecting the bottom of the lampost. Bonus.
I have used a few sun trackers, but I find Sun Surveyor suits me. I have given the developer feedback and some suggestions (to help it be a shadow tracker) and he has been very helpful.
