This is a Javanese home built in Perth. The frontage faces the east. So how is this going to be lit its best?
To emphasize the glass frontage I felt it would be best at pre-dawn. The eastern pre-dawn sky would be much lighter than the western sky behind. This will exaggerate the glass frontage shape.
So, alarm set for 4am, forecast for intermittant rain....
Phew, it did not rain that night.
The image above was shot from a height of about 3 metres so we could see 'down' the drive, and that height opens up the foreground rather than compressing it if I was at a normal head height.

Shooting at 4:30am meant that all the surrounding house lights were off so it really helped this home stand out from its neighbours.
Then as the sun poked over the Darling Ranges I got the sunburst off the glass retaining wall for the pool (below).
If this was shot at late afternoon/sunset the sky behind would have been way too bright and the home too dark. (The ground rises behind this home for a few blocks).
I was fortunate with the rain, and a clear horizon to the east, but the timing and planning made this work.
The fusion of east and west.
